Why OKLCH finally makes color systems predictable
HSL was a half-step. OKLCH is the first browser-native color space that's truly perceptually uniform — and it changes how we should build palettes.

For thirty years designers have built palettes in HSL with the implicit assumption that equal lightness values look equally bright across hues. They don't. A yellow at HSL 50% lightness is dramatically brighter than a blue at the same value, and that gap is why brand systems built in HSL fall apart at scale...
