These CMYK values use a profile-free formula, which is fine for specs and mockups. A press-ready build depends on the printer's ICC profile (FOGRA39, GRACoL and so on); convert through that profile in your layout software or the Pro press-ready export, and confirm critical colors on a proof.

What is the rgb to cmyk?

RGB to CMYK converts screen colors (red, green, blue, 0 to 255) into print percentages (cyan, magenta, yellow, black). The result uses the standard formula; the correct press build depends on the printer's ICC profile, which the page explains.

RGB vs CMYK

RGB is additive: light is added to black, and full red, green and blue make white. CMYK is subtractive: ink absorbs light from white paper, and full cyan, magenta and yellow make a dark brown that black ink corrects. The RGB gamut is larger, so bright greens, oranges and blues lose intensity in CMYK. This tool shows the approximate build so the shift is visible before the file reaches a press.

Use the formula result for quick specs; for files going to a printer, convert through the shop's profile (FOGRA39, GRACoL, Japan Color) in your layout software or the Pro press-ready export.

RGB to CMYK FAQ

How do I convert RGB to CMYK?

Enter the RGB values. The tool returns CMYK percentages with the plain formula; the page notes how a press profile changes them.

Why does my color look dull in CMYK?

Because some RGB colors are outside the CMYK gamut and the closest printable color is less saturated. Check the converted value against a proof before committing a brand color.

Should I design in RGB or CMYK for print?

Design in RGB with a wide gamut, then convert through the printer's profile at export. Converting early locks you into a small gamut for nothing.
